  • My favorite color: RED

    RED, RED, RED!

Red is my favorite color.  It will be the main color in my Orca Bay Mystery Quilt.  This week is the first we get to use our main color in the quilt.

I need to make 126 of these string pieced triangles.

8 made so far and 118 to go!

Most of you know how I love to decorate for Christmas using gingerbread.   My little gingerbread men bring back so many memories of special people and special times in my life.

Yesterday I took care of Dorie and James.  I had saved the bottom of my tree for them to decorate.

They put up a few gingerbread men and then were ready to move on to other things.

This little tin gingerbread  with the sticker of a baby on it was given to me by Queena and Ethan a few years ago.   It was their way of telling us they were expecting a baby, and that baby was Dorie!

I enjoyed taking James around the house to see my three different Manger scenes.   He would point out Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, sheep, cow, shepard and then we would move on to the next one.   After viewing all three of them  he said, “More, more!”

Let’s Rejoice in the Reason for the Season!

Hope you are enjoying this Holiday time.

  • That’s going to be a spectacular quilt! The gingerbread decorations look wonderful.

  • I often think of you when I see gingerbread men! I just got a plate full of them in a cookie exchange. You can bet I am following the progress of yours and Julia’s quilts and am looking forward to the end result! That’s special letting the little ones help decorate the bottom of the tree. Our gingergread village is displayed on the cabinet between the kitchen and dining room. Claire left the back undecorated so that her nieces and nephews can decorate it. They are coming for a sleepover this weekend.

  • That will be a stunning red quilt! Love the photos of the kidlets!

  • Red is my favorite color, too! You’re one brave quilter to tackle that mystery quilt with so many little pieces, though…not sure I’d be that courageous. Love the pix of your two dear little ones….so very sweet!

  • I am also following the progress of yours and Julia’s quilts!  Your holiday posts are certainly full of the joy of the season and the joy of the Lord!

  • Great triangles, and quite seasonal. I must say, I REALLY like the format of your blog, the backgrounds, the way your photos are presented, and the photography itself! Wonderful.

  • Polly, I plan to start on the mystery quilt as soon as possible.  But since my favorite color is blue, I plan to switch the reds with the blues.  I am toying with the idea of using purples instead of black or with them and see what comes up.  I am going to try to use more fushias than reds.  I hope I don’t ruin the overall look, but I don’t want a predominately red quilt.    I can’t wait to get started.  I hope I can catch up.

  • I am wondering why you paper pieced these red ones instead of your other method that you did with your blues.
