  • Peddler’s Village with friends.

This week I had the privilege of going to Peddler’s Village with friends.

Last year I joined Wava and Beka for a two day Christmas excursion and we decided to make it an annual event.

It is a quaint little village all dressed up in lights and a cozy atmosphere.   All kinds of shops line the cobblestone paths.   Each year they have contests for making little gingerbread houses.

Check in on Quiltville’s Quips & Snips  to see the progress of other quilters.

This Friday we got our next clue in the mystery quilt.  So far it hasn’t been to bad at keeping up but this next step is a pretty big deal especially since it is Christmas week.  I’m still going to try and get it done tho.

Here is my stacks of 700 little triangles.

It doesn’t look like that many but it is!  700

Our job this week is to sew two of the triangle onto the black/neutral  half square triangle units on the middle left of this next picture.

We  should have 350 of those units on the bottom by the end of the week.

Last evening I got busy and sewed and sewed!

See the picture of my husband propped up behind my sewing machine.   It matches nicely with these mountains of triangles.

I thank the Lord daily for a Godly husband who loves me and supports my passion of sewing.

Now tomorrow these 350 triangles are waiting to be sewn, then I’ll be finished with my units for the week.

  • Peddler’s Village!!!   That makes me sooooo nostalgic!  I went to Peddler’s Village only once, back sometime in ’71 or ’72, with my mother and a few other friends.  I was a freshman in college, and I lived at home, which was in the Philly suburbs.  Nice memories!  Your mystery quilt is coming along great!!

  • Can’t wait to see the quilt completed. I’m sure it will be beautiful!

  • Will enjoy seeing the end result of the quilt.

  • LOVE that frame with the birds on it ~

  • I am enjoying seeing the progress of your mystery quilt. What fun it must be for you, I am eager to see the next step. I like that frame your picture is in  and love the picture in it. You have a sweet heart of a husband.
I hope your week goes well!

  • What beautiful gingerbread houses! Your blocks look great and that was neat that your husband put the wonderful picture behind your machine!

  • You’ve made excellent progress and I LOVE the Christmas tour of lights – Thank YOU!

  • It was so nice that you could join Becka & Wava for a little Christmas shopping. The gingerbread houses are fabulous. I wonder if Claire Bleu could outdo them. I’m sure she could. And you are so far advanced on your Orca Bay. I’m still back on step 4 and now this week I’ll be busy, busy, busy with company and Christmas.

  • You are doing great, Polly.  I, too am thankful for a loving Christian husband that tolerates my passion for sewing, and the other fiber arts.    I just finished my Dresden Plate (not Dahlia) quilt for Dec. so now I can zero in on the mystery quilt.  I sure hope I can catch up.  I don’t want the surprise spoiled before I get there.    I have the first step cut ready for sewing.  I think I’ll save that and go to the next parts and try to get them done before I start sewing the triangles together.   Have a great Christmas.  Vernon’s parents and sister Lily’s family plan to be here then.

  • Can’t wait to see how those triangles turn out- looks like it must be a very large quilt.

  • Hi Mom,

Did you see the videos I posted on Facebook?
