  • Crab Supper

I’m finally back up and running on Xanga again.  For a month or so I just couldn’t get on Xanga.  I finally called my computer lady  (thanks Amy!) and in no time she had me up and running again.
I don’t even know where to begin with my busy summer.    I have spent an amazing amount of time working on a project I’m doing for our church conference.    Don’t get me wrong it really wasn’t working but “playing” since it had to do with sewing and quilts.    Conference is this week so when it’s over I’ll share a post on my project.

Last evening we had a Crab and Shrimp supper in honor of Father’s Day.  I know, I know, Father’s Day was a long time ago.  Holly and Timmy have been planning this for a long time now and it’s finally suited.

Cheryl I see your place at the table is the neatest and cleanest!
Max had no problem tackling his crabs!

He is becoming quite the crab picker!   I think he took care of 4 or 5 crabs.

Holly had asked all 6 of our children to write out a blessing for Mark for this coming year.   Thanks, Israel in Michigan,  Queena in Malaysia,  Chris in South Carolina for your kind words and blessings to dad.  We missed you all last evening.
Thanks Jeremy, Holly and Timmy for your blessings there around the table.   We love you all so much!

Boaz being introduced to Maggie!  He’s not to sure about that bundle of fur.

Max enjoying the swing his daddy put in the tree a couple years ago.   We push a picnic table up close and he can get in the swing and push off from that for a nice long ride.

Before everyone went home we put in a Skype call to Dorie and James in Malaysia.  It’s still amazes me how we can talk to them as if they are in the next room and yet they are half way around the world!

Thanks Holly and Timmy for honoring your dad.   The evening was so very special and will be remembered for a long time.

  • Part Two of camping trip.

Part Two:  Camping trip to Norris Dam State Park

Old and young alike seemed to enjoy our time of camping.  Here is the oldest with the youngest.

I enjoyed the afternoon that some of us went out site seeing.   Here is the Norris Dam from the bottom.

We toured an old Grist Mill close to the dam…

…as well as a museum.   I didn’t take many pictures of it but I did have to include the little Wilcox and Gibbs sewing machine.   It is a close model to the one I have.

The other picture I took while touring was of my bother Oren Jr.  I heard him tell two of our nephews, “Now that is something I would like to own!”   I never could figure out what the contraption was.  Love the way the sun is shining on the side of his face!  He reminds me so much of my father here.

Back at camp a lot of action is going on.
Mother taking a brisk walk with Sheila and Coleen.

    Sheri and Parla playing volleyball.

A game of “Ticket to Ride” going on.

    Some “pickin and singing”!

     ”Four Square”

Emorie sat patiently watching but wanted to get in on the action.

Her daddy Aaron said, “Why Not?”  What a good daddy!

Maxwell and Brock playing “?”  I forget what this game is called.

Timmy and Ben watching Aaron taking good care of his girlie!

Jodie and Julian sharing a moment while twin Justin looks on.

    Hannah, Mike, Tim and Ryan

    Malissa and Ben

Jeremy and Cheryl taking Bo for a stroll.

We sure missed all those who could not be with us.  Maybe next year!

  • Heatwole Campout

    Heatwole Campout

    Norris Dam State Park,   TN

We just got home from spending a wonderful week-end with my family.  It has been a couple years now since we have had a campout and the younger generation has been wanting to do it again.

Norris Dam State Park was a great place.   Some of us chose rustic cabins instead of pulling a camper.  Some chose primitive tent camping, but most had pop-ups or pull campers.

We had a great spot for the Corn Hole games.   They were kept busy most of the time.

Terry and Ryan taking on Mike and Craig.

    Lots of spectators.

Barbara and I strolling our grands.

Isn’t this a great picture of Emily, Barbara and Julia?   Their grandbabies are all about the same age.

The little ones sure enjoyed riding their bikes.  The park ranger came around and said that they all must wear helmets and so they provided us with them all!

Each day we had only two meals, a brunch and a supper.   Each of my siblings were in charge on one meal.   We had children or neices assigned to help.  It took a lot of grub to feed 75-80 of us.

Little Georgi helping her momma Sheila and her great-aunt-Sheila doing the dishes.

We did a lot of goofing off and sitting around.   You get tired after a while and fall asleep anywhere, even in the middle of a circle.

Jim sure is enjoying his nap.

I’ll save some more pictures for another post.

  • Memories

I sure have been enjoying the rainy weather.  Cozy days to sew!

The floor is disappearing at our house.
This morning Holly came to join me for day working on her T-Shirt quilt.

Then this afternoon Connie B. dropped in to show me an antique quilt she is finishing.    We noticed in this next picture we have a Modern Quilt, a Traditional Quilt and an Antique Quilt.

I think Mark wants his living room floor back tho!

Last week before Ethan and Queena left we had a nice picnic in our side yard with family.     Jeremy and Cheryl came over for the day from Baltimore.   They blessed me by trimming the Penn Oaks that run down my lane.

Max even got in on the action.

The evening turned out rather cold but we ~picniced~ anyway!   It was so windy.

We had Mom Yoder, Aunt Freda and Grandma Schultz and I was worried about them, but they were real troopers.  By the end of the evening we had extra coats for them.

I love how Dorie is looking at her great-grandma!

Love this picture of Bobby and John!  Two good men!  We call John our oldest son and Bobby our second!

    Time for the campfire!

    Help Daddy!

    Help Grandma!

Timmy stayed by the ice-cream freezer!

Dorie and Holly getting in on some lovin.

~ Great memories to hold in our hearts! ~

  • FlightAware.com

Today I have been following a little airplane beep across my computer screen knowing full well it is taking my loved ones further and further away from me,  half way around the world.

I see that now they are over India with 4 hours 33 more minutes before landing in Singapore.   They have a 12 hour layover before the last leg of the trip which is a two hour flight to Kuching.

Today I’ve been working on a quilt that I’m doing for a display at Conference.   My phrase is … “He leadeth me in paths of Righteousness for His name sake.”
Today I let those words (God’s Words) sink into my heart knowing He is leading Ethan, Queena, Dorie and James.

Holly spent the last two days here sewing with me.   What fun!

She is working on a T-Shirt comfort that she auctioned off last year at our church retreat.   It is a graduation  present so she needs to get it done soon.

I love the way it is turning out!

I’ve sure enjoyed putting my WONKY lettering together with such wonderful company!

    “We Have This Moment Today”

~ Bill and Gloria Gaither ~
